“Does your thinking create your environment or does your environment create your thinking.” - Melissa Chu
This week we would like to focus on how our environment impacts us. Every day, we face tons of options. They bombard us from when we get out of bed to what we should do next. Some of these choices are tough. Others require patience and dedication. And then, there are the tempting choices that we try to resist. Like any other cautionary tale, we end up falling prey to certain choices because of the environmental cues around us. Environmental cues are the objects in our surroundings that trigger certain thoughts and desires, causing us to behave in certain ways.
People, objects and our environment are our everyday reference guides on how we should act and respond to every decision we make throughout our daily activities. The reason behind this behavior is that humans are naturally cognitive misers. Meaning we value our mental processing resources, so we try to find easier ways to navigate around our world. We must begin to design our surroundings to make good choices. Having an environment that only has desirable choices constricts you to do what’s important for yourself. So if you want to work on improving your habits, take a look around yourself and see how you can make it more convenient. Take care.
“…ambivalent relationships are the most dangerous ones because you don’t know when to let go.” - Vanessa Van Edwards
This week we are focusing on ambivalent relationships. Ambivalence occurs in relationships when there is a coexistence of opposing emotions and desires towards the other person that creates an uncertainty about being in the relationship. This uncertainty can cause a huge drainage in your daily choices if you don’t execute on releasing the individual(s) from your circle immediately. While watching an interview starring Vanessa Van Edwards, she states, “…ambivalent relationships are the most dangerous ones because you don’t know when to let go.” Since it’s difficult to choose between separating yourself or keeping the bond, your ‘friend-nemy’ can then continue to remain around and prevent you from having a healthy lifestyle.
That unhealthy lifestyle can then limit your ability to perform at a high rate because all of your energy is being placed on that matter. Understand that this is completely different from ‘toxic’ relationships since they are easier to pluck out. But with ambivalence, your mind wanders for hours, distracting you from more important decisions throughout your daily activities. Always remain on track to prosper and create fruitful relationships to exceed in life.
Whenever there’s a void or a lack of…it’s human nature to find a way. When you don’t have, you’re forced to be creative to survive.. - @Sheronbarber
This week we would like to focus on poverty forcing creativity. An influencer in the fashion industry by the name of ‘Sheronbarber’ states, Whenever there’s a void or a lack of… it’s human nature to find a way. When you don’t have, you’re forced to be creative to survive.” Subsequently, you’re forced to improve you’re creativeness to remain relevant in today’s society. And staying relevant isn’t a difficult task because creativity is so abundant that it can literally be conceived any and everywhere. The old English proverb, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way’ correlates perfectly with Sheron’s statement became when you are determined enough, you can find a way to achieve what you want, even if it’s very difficult.
We often think about creativity as making something, but in fact the root meaning of the word means to grow’. And as we grow, our ideas evolve which allows are creativity to expand and become more profound. Pablo Picasso stated, “Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up.” And these problems can be caused by tons of factors, but our main belief is society because so many people are satisfied with their comfortable job, slaving for other’s wealth. Never allow yourself nor your children to be contained by other people because our creativity will always allow the impossible to become possible.
This week we are focusing on, “The Power of Now” and how this train of thought can eliminate all procrastination we sometimes endure. These four words are easy to say, but difficult to act upon. When brainstorming great ideas, four methods need to be produced in the ‘now moment; plan, strategize, execute, and capitalize! To begin, writing out your plan not only help’s memorize the importance of it, but also allows you to manifest that imagination into 2D form to see your vision in full circle. It then allows you to make edits to produce the final outcome. Next is strategizing how you (and your team, if any) will market this idea to your audience and make them become lifelong clients. This is the most tedious part, but with the correct focus, it can be accomplished in the proper time frame.
With The Power of Now, we need to execute immediately and never dread on this step. Executing our ideas shows that you are about your business and are a true entrepreneur. No one want’s to be around individuals who talk more and show action less, so don’t fall into that category. Lastly capitalize on everything you’ve just showcased to the world and make your weaknesses become your strengths. These steps will put you on the path to greatness.
“My own worst enemy so fuck it either way I can’t lose” -J. Cole
This week we would love for everyone to key in on believing in there-selves. When putting your energy towards improving yourself as a better person, there is no doubt that blessings will come your way. Risk equals reward and sometimes just a good story to archive. And where there is a good story to preach about, your resume creates more value for the foundation you are building your legacy on. Most importantly, you will never lose! Those minor/major errors you’ve made on your path to greatness are all learning curves and never failures. It’s only a failure if you decide to quit when times get rough.
Turn your craft from amateur experience to professional status. Never depend on other individuals. The moment you begin to depend on other’s is when you’ve given up betting on yourself. A important verse from J. Cole resonates deeply when he raps, “my own worst enemy so fuck it either way I cant lose.” So don’t ever let another human being allow you to fail because we are our worst critic. Everyday believe and dream then go out in the world and achieve.
